Sting Prototype by matanui2001 Sting Prototype by matanui2001
IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT MY STING, PLEASE NOTE THAT IT WAS BASED OFF OF THIS EXCELLENT MOC. [link]

With that said I think I improved the blade and guard quite a lot. While I didn't add the elvish runes in the blade, I plan to add them when I have the pieces. Also, I replicated the original handle, but it was simply too bulky for my hand. So I slimed it down, and made it solid brown for the sake of stability. While this may bother some movie goers, I was not going for complete movie accuracy when I built this. I must say, the idea of sideways building for the blade is genius. And while this original mastered Sting, I plan to use mush the same technique for Sting’s sister sword Orcrist. Stay tuned for that, as well as the final version of Sting, though both may be some ways away.

Yeah...but when are orcs ever near? I've never seen an orc, or elf, or anything other than men(and women). Though I do think there's some dwarves out there. :P

Well, If you ever do, this is the thing to build. I'm thinking of using the same building idea behind Sting here to make a series of other famous movie swords. Any ideas?

The only sword I can think of is the sword from Harry Potter. But if you want some sword Ideas check out these Swords. Kamen Rider Blade's King Rouzer [link] and Kamen Rider Kiva's Zanbat Sword [link]

Looks great so far but like the other one I think you should ad a darker or lighter color to show the swirl on the blade and the silver on the handle to show the vine work on the handle. I have a replica Sting on my wall and you have the shape dead on. you did an amazing job.

Thank you. And as a matter of fact, I plan to try and find a way T make the handle details. The blade's swirl will be a simple matter of plate bricks, but I just need some more parts to do it. Thankfully, if my Barad-dur wins that contest (and I think it will), I'll have all the pieces I need for a truly amazing replica. :)

Don't care what it was based off; a freaking LEGO sword, dude. LEGO SWORD! You might be the millionth person to come up with one, but it's still awesome.

Looks like you haven't gotten the design 100% but you pretty much nailed the overall shape. Great job

While I like what you've done with the blocks you had, the hilt (handle) looks a little wobbly. Try to incorporate thicker blocks.

Also just for design while you're working on the hilt really study the design of the sting and incorporate some of the gray blocks as well.

Keep in mind...I dont make lego things because Im terrible, but looks really good and close to design anyway.

I want it to be as perfect as it can be, true. But I can only do so much. And this thing doesn't wobble in the least. It can take many a hard swing. I like to think that the handle needs work, but this is a prototype after all. I'll fix it someday.

Using the same idea as here, do you think that I can do Orcrist?

This is coming from a passerby so it may not be worth much. Your construction skills are alright because you can get a shape look appealing while at the same time making decent curves. Your designs could use a little work mind you but with the proper time, materials, and practice you could do something great.

You've got potential. You probably can. Just not now. Whatever an orcist is.

Indeed I can. :D Thanks.

Orcrist is Sting's sister sword. Basicly, cut the shape of Sting in half, make it longer, and you have Orcrist. It's a beautiful sword.
